The Spring/Summer 2025 issue of The Hong Kong Journal of Dermatology & Venereology presents a diverse collection of articles that reflect the multifaceted nature of modern dermatology. This edition features two original research articles authored by mainland scholars who utilised the SEER database to analyse epidemiological trends and clinical outcomes in dermatologic diseases. Their work underscores the invaluable role of public data repositories in deepening our understanding of population health and shaping effective healthcare strategies.

Complementing these epidemiological studies are two compelling case reports that highlight life-threatening and rare, intriguing dermatologic conditions-cases that might easily be overlooked in everyday clinical practice. These reports serve as important reminders of the diagnostic vigilance required in dermatology.

A standout contribution in this issue is a thorough review and expert commentary on genodermatoses. The authors expertly weave together the latest advances in genetic research, illustrating how precise clinico-pathologic diagnosis, empowered by cutting-edge genetic testing, is revolutionising patient management. This approach not only facilitates personalised treatment plans but also significantly improves patient outcomes.

Adding to the richness of this edition is a thoughtful perspective on skin cancer reconstruction techniques. It showcases practical, high-yield surgical methods that optimise both functional and aesthetic results following tumour excision.

We hope this issue serves as a valuable resource, inspiring and equipping our readers to elevate the standard of patient care.
